Agenda
Trust, Give, Empower | Empowering Grassroots, Powering Change
09:10 AM - 09:20 AM PDT The marginalization of communities due to socio-economic, geographic, and historic factors impedes their ability to be heard. Our keynote will highlight voices from grassroots leaders and set the stage for conversation with the global philanthropic community on supporting vulnerable communities through trust-based funding and localized pathways for resilience. |
Leading from the Margins | An Intersectional Perspective
09:20 AM - 09:45 AM PDT Community needs are frequently represented by those without lived experience of exclusion, marginalization, or vulnerability. In contrast, this session will be led by Deepa Pawar - where she will share her lived experience as a Nomadic tribal feminist in India and the strength it takes to lead a community-based organization (CBO). |
Unlocking Philanthropic Potential | The Future of Giving in India
09:50 AM - 10:25 AM PDT How can funders to India give better? This session focuses on adopting a Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) centered approach to giving towards India. Drawing on insights from the 'India Philanthropy Report 2023', the session will highlight the access gap in funding for organizations that serve the most vulnerable communities. |
Breaking the Cycle of Vulnerability | A Trust-based GEDI Intentional Approach
10:25 AM - 11:00 AM PDT Investing in proximate leaders offers significant advantages, yet they continue to struggle with limited funding and exposure. This session encourages the philanthropic community to promote more equitable access to resources by spotlighting innovations in participatory approaches to grantmaking. |
Pivot LCV | Deconstructing Leadership, Community Centricity and Vulnerability
11:30 AM -12:15 PM PDT An energizing session led by a distinguished indigenous community-based organization (CBO) leader from North East India - Deep Jyoti Sonu Brahma - this session outlines the principles that pivot selection criteria for Rebuild's portfolio of community-based organizations. Through experiencing the Fund's NGO selection framework that assesses leadership, community centricity, and vulnerability (LCV), participants will gain insights into how to strategically select organizations while prioritizing the dignity of the communities being served. |
Exploring Dasra's Journey | Catalyzing Change for A Billion Thriving
12:20 PM - 12:50 PM PDT In this session, Dasra's Co-Founder, Deval Sanghavi, will take participants on a journey through the organization's two-decade-long experience of catalyzing change for building dignity for vulnerable communities in India. The conversation will focus on Dasra's approach to achieving its goal of one billion thriving Indians by supporting community-based organizations (CBOs) and proximate leaders. |
